Out with the old and in with the new! We have gotten rid of our photocopiers and replaced them with amazing new scanners. The new consoles allow users to scan documents for free and them save them to a USB drive or an email. You can, of course, still print out or fax hard copies. It's very easy to use, but as always, our librarians will be happy to help you. Read More

Running is an inexpensive and liberating way to stay healthy and as the weather gets warm, you might want to give it a try! Coaches from Elmhurst’s Runner’s Soul store will be at the library to share their expertise on how to get started, avoid injury, and stay motivated. Join us for the next joint Library/Park District book discussion on March 18th from 10-11AM. The group, "Between the Lines," will be discussing The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America by Erik Larson. Books are available at the Addison Park District, 120 E. Oak Street, Addison. The book discussion will also take place in the Park District meeting room on Oak Street. Read More
Book Bunch postponed due to snow
The library's book discussion group, which was scheduled to meet on Tuesday, 3/5, will instead meet at a later date due to the snowstorm being forecast. World Fest 2013
This Saturday, March 9, join us at noon for World Fest, our cultural celebration that's fun for the whole family. This year, we'll have African and Indian dancing, live Mariachi music, henna, crafts, prizes, and treats from around the world. Read More

APL Staff Changes
Former Teen Librarian Dianne Ludwig was recently promoted to the position of Head of Circulation. Her predecessor, Diane Klecka, was honored for her 32 years of outstanding service to the library and the people of Addison by the Board of Trustees. The library is now searching for a teen librarian to replace Dianne. Read More

Addison Public Library is pleased to announce that we have been chosen by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association to receive books and films relating to a theme they are exploring this year: Muslim Journeys. Thank you to all who voted for our library in the LEGO Duplo Read! Build! Play! contest. After a month, we finished in 18th place out of the top 200 libraries in the United States. Our prizes came today and include a huge box of LEGO Duplos, a large story book with 10 accompanying sets of Duplos, and two Duplo readers. Read More

The Friends of the Library Gift Basket Sale begins today in the library's lobby. Each basket contains books (new or like-new) and a special gift for only $10 each. The baskets make perfect holiday gifts for people of any age. Don't wait too long to stop by--we sold out in only a few days last year! Read More

Beautiful paintings by local artist Leah Tait are on display this month on the wall across from the elevator on the second floor. The Best Buy Children's Foundation awarded the library a Community Grant
The Best Buy Children's Foundation has just awarded a community grant to Addison Public Library! The money will be put towards our new "TNT: Teens 'n Technology for Tomorrow" initiative; we are designing a studio for A/V and graphical editing, and will soon host tech training programs to introduce young adults in the area to the world of digital media. To help celebrate the library's 50th anniversary, the Addison Historical Society and the Friends of the Addison Public Library are sponsoring a photo contest. If you have taken a photo or see something that captures the spirit of Addison, it is perfect for submitting. Applications forms are available at the public service desks and the historical museum.
