We're starting a group on politics and policy where we'll read a few articles and come in and discuss them over light refreshments at the library. | As you may have read in the newsletter, our summer hours begin soon. Beginning on Sunday, May 26, we will be closed Sundays until the week after Labor Day. The newsletter erroneously states that we will be open on May 26, when in fact we will be closed. (We will also be closed on Memorial Day.) We will also close an hour earlier on Fridays after Memorial Day. Aside from these changes, we'll be open as usual! Read More |

Read More 05/30/2013 Banned: Persepolis This past March, Chicago Public Schools may have—depending on whom you ask—banned the book Persepolis from its middle schools, prompting outrage among many. The autobiographic graphic novel deals with the oppressive government of Iran in a touching way, through the eyes of a girl as she grows up. Watch the award-winning film adaptation of the movie and then discuss it with Fred Klonsky, the fiery blogger who broke the story of the book being banned.
