Head of Adult Services

Full Time, Exempt

Hours: 37.5/wk; Evening and weekend hours as required.

Salary: $50,829 - $76,243 DOQ; $63,536 is the midpoint of the salary range and reserved for candidates who exceed the minimum qualifications and have significant, direct experience.

Position Details:

The Addison Public Library is seeking a leader to oversee the cultivation of creative thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and resourceful users of information. The ideal candidate is friendly, enthusiastic, and customer-focused and is an expert at ready reference, reader’s advisory, and basic technology assistance. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on special projects and participate on library-wide committees.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coordinating the planning, scheduling, presentation, and evaluation of programs and services.
  • Mentoring staff to embrace and lead 21st century librarianship.
  • Serving patrons primarily inside the building through programs, services, desk coverage, and behavior monitoring; there will be opportunities to represent the Library out in the community.
  • Working with the Leadership Team to improve staff and patron experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Education: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Experience: Three years of library experience involving Adult Services and one year of supervisory experience.
  • Required to work evening and weekend hours.
  • Access to transportation.

Teen Services Specialist

Full Time, Non-exempt

Hours: 37.5/wk; Evening and weekend hours required.

Salary: $39,379 - $59,069 DOQ; $49,224 is the midpoint of the salary range and reserved for candidates who exceed the minimum qualifications and have significant, direct experience.

Position Description

Located across the street from the local junior high, the Addison Public Library serves a large and diverse population of teens. The right candidate will have a passion for public service, the ability to make meaningful connections with young adults from any background, and the confidence to manage large crowds. Teen Services Specialists work with a highly collaborative and innovative team to enhance traditional, digital, and civic literacies in young adults.

  • Serving as a mentor to young adults

Qualifications

  • MLS from an ALA-accredited institution preferred.

The Addison Public Library is seeking a friendly, detail-orientated, and customer-focused person to manage our Guest Services department. You'll also have the opportunity to work on special projects, assist managing the Library’s patron database, and participate on Library-wide committees.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Four years of recent library work experience, preferably in circulation
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with iii Millennium or Sierra is a bonus!
