The Olmec Trails of DuPage / Los Olmec Trails de DuPage

The Mexican Cultural Center DuPage and College of DuPage partnered together to install giant Olmec heads throughout DuPage. These are inspired by the stone heads of the Olmec civilization in ancient Mesoamerica. There are 33 Olmec heads decorated by North American artists. They will be available to view through October. El Mexican Cultural Center DuPage (Centro de Cultura Mexicana en DuPage) y el Colegio de DuPage colaboraron para instalar cabezas olmecas gigantes por todo el condado. Ellas son inspiradas en las cabezas de piedra de la civilización olmeca en la antigua Mesoamérica. La exposición consiste de 33 cabezas olmecas decoradas por artistas norteamericanos y estarán disponibles hasta finales de octubre.

Diana Martinez will delve into the intriguing and mysterious history of the colossal stone heads, masterpieces of the ancient Olmecs, Mesoamerica’s earliest civilization. These awe-inspiring sculptures have served as the inspiration for the Olmec Trails project. This unique exhibition will showcase 33 artists’ works painted on sculptures, offering a fascinating glimpse into ancient Mexican culture. This one-of-a-kind event will be held across various locations in DuPage County from June to October 2024. Presented in English.

Olmec Heads Photo Contest / Concurso de Fotos con las cabezas olmecas

Have you visited the Olmec Trails yet? Take a photo of an Olmec head and enter it into our photo contest! Staff will pick the top 15 for the public to vote. The photo with the most votes will win a prize!

Olmec Heads Paint Kit / Cabezas olmecas: Kit de pintura

Pick up a 3D printed Olmec head and a paint set to decorate your very own Olmec head! Kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Celebrating Frida Kahlo/Celebrando Frida Kahlo (Children / Niños)

Join us this Hispanic Heritage Month to learn about the artist Frida Kahlo and create crafts inspired by her work. Make a nicho and flower headband that celebrates her iconic self-portraits and iconic flower headbands. Drop-in.

Hispanic Heritage Month Scavenger Hunt (Children / Niños)

Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month there will be a scavenger hunt where you find some flags of Hispanic countries and find out a fun fact about that country. Fill out the form with some of the fun facts and turn it back in to the Children’s desk for a prize!
