Upcoming Events for Children and Families


One-on-One AppointmentsBaby Reading a Picture Book

Meet with a Children's Librarian in person or on Zoom! Appointments must be booked a minimum of 48 hours in advance.

Appointments Ideas: 

Early Literacy
Ages 1-5 with caregiver. We’ll read a story and review early literacy tips essential for development and learning.
Citas disponibles en Español con Louise para los niños pequeños de 1 a 5 años y sus adultos.

Reading
Grades 1-5. We'll find just the right book based on your interests and ability and begin to read it at the library.

Math
Grades 1-5. We'll learn games that are not only fun, but also practice math skills!

Are you looking for something to do while you're at home with the kids? Take home a craft kit from the library!

Call the Children's Services desk at 630.458.3338 or fill out the Curbside Pickup form to request a craft kit. We will get your kits ready to go and bring them to Guest Services.

Books for Children

Story Packs

Liven up your at-home read alouds with a Story Pack! Story Packs will contain all you need for at home reading fun, including two story books to be checked out from the library, a list of songs and rhymes, and a craft. Choose your theme below. One Story Pack per cardholder but you can request a kit for each child who will take part.>

Themed Tote Bags

We offer themed tote bags for check out! These bags contain an array of books, CDs, puzzles, puppets, and more. We have story totes for at home story times, tutoring totes to strengthen academic skills, and even totes containing Leap Frog Tag Readers.

Tag Readers read to or allow the child to read independently with help on unfamiliar words. Tag Readers also have games available within the books. Tote bags check out for four weeks.


Live Homework Help

One on one tutoring in math, English, science, social studies, AP classes, college test prep, and more for students in kindergarten through college and beyond. Tutors are available in English and Spanish from 3:00pm-10:00pm.

Yesenia Benavidez is the Library’s Social Services Coordinator. She works directly with patrons, listening to their needs, referring them to community and legal resources, and helping them connect the dots. Her services are available for free by appointment in English and Spanish.
