Artist in Residence: Upcoming Workshops + Dec. 12 Open House

We are excited to welcome local artist Antonia Ruppert to the library as our first Artist in Residence! Over the next two months, Antonia will hold collaborative creative workshops that will focus on the home of our memories and imaginations. Come share your story and be part of this artistic exploration of our community!

Photo of artist Andrea RuppertAbout the Artist:

Antonia Ruppert is an artist from Chicago. She has spent the last 7 years creating community art projects for organizations in the Chicagoland area. Her work includes collaborative murals and portraits about relationships, drawing from observing people, hearing stories, building relationships and personal experiences. Each work of art has joy and purpose and Antonia invites the viewer to join in on the creation rather than stand outside of the process. Antonia regularly participates in art shows, live-painting sessions, community events and painting workshops.

Addison has been home to many people of vast cultures. We will celebrate this by making a community mural with a million dots! During Community Mural sessions, stop by and spend as much time as you like contributing to the mural and sharing your aspirations for life in Addison. Antonia will guide you as you add your dots to the canvas and build relationships with your fellow community members.

Everybody deserves a home in their community. Come in to create and decorate a miniature paper mache home! Invite your family and reminisce together as you create something special. During our Artist in Residence program, these miniature homes will create a special display in the library. You will be able to take your creation home at the end of the residency.

Share your story with Antonia and other local artists as they illustrate a unique portrait of you to add to our Faces in Addison art series. Antonia will also demonstrate how to create a portrait of yourself using a step- by-step process. Please note: space is limited.
