What is SWAN?
SWAN (System Wide Automated Network) is a group of 100 libraries that share resources to give you access to more books, media, downloads, and research databases.
On Tues., Nov. 14, the Addison Public Library will be joining SWAN!
What does SWAN mean for me?
- More materials: After Nov. 14, you will be able to access an incredible assortment of over 1.5 million titles and 8 million materials in the online catalog. The SWAN migration makes searching for items easier and more accessible than ever before.
- One card, 100 libraries: There are 100 other libraries in SWAN and you are able to visit any of these libraries and check out with your Addison Public Library card!
- Get items faster and easier: Easily request materials from other SWAN libraries and have them sent here for pickup. Plus, you also have the option to get your holds sent to another SWAN library for pickup, if you prefer!
- We're still fines free: Anytime you check out materials from the Addison Public Library, we won't charge you overdue fines.
- With the SWAN migration, all PIN numbers will be reset. PIN numbers will default to the last 4-digits of the phone number on your account, so it is very important that you have your information up-to-date! You can also change your PIN to whatever you'd like after the migration takes place.
- Overdue and hold pick-up notices will no longer be mailed. Patrons will need to sign up for text, email, or phone messages after Nov. 14.
- Good news — all of your lists, history, ratings, and reviews on your account will transfer over after the migration!
