Are you going on vacation and would love to take videos of the family, but you don’t have a camcorder? Have you prepared for an online job interview, but you’re not equipped with a webcam and a computer headset? Or maybe you’re attending a family gathering, and you’d like to play a few games like bocce ball, croquet, or badminton. You’re in luck: you can check out over 150 items like these from the Library of Things Collection at the Addison Public Library! The Library of Things collection includes a huge variety of educational, useful, and entertaining items that you can borrow, and everyone from children to seniors can find something useful to check out and take home with them.
Let’s say you’re a homeschooling parent. With your Addison Public Library card, you can check out a human torso anatomy model, a remote-control machines engineering kit, or a microscope to add a new form layer of teaching to help your children learn with hands-on activities.
Or perhaps you’re looking for new ways to entertain your family members. If kids want to play with a pair of walkie-talkies, try their musical skills on a keyboard, build a new LEGO kit, we’ve got them covered with items in the Library of Things collection. You can even grab a board game for family game night or simply to keep your kids entertained while you work on projects around the house.
The Library of Things collection is a great resource for home improvement projects, too. You can check out an electric drill, a screwdriver set, or a stud-finder and thermal leak detector to handle projects around the house. Even if your project is something smaller, like cleaning your old jewelry or shredding old documents, you can check out useful items like a jewelry cleaner, paper shredder, knife sharpener, and more.
Sometimes our community members are interested in a certain item, but they don’t know if they really want or need to buy it for themselves. That’s where our Library of Things collection comes in. You can try something before you buy it, or if you only need to use an item once or twice, you can borrow it from the library as you need it.
One thing is certain: the library is dedicated to building a collection that works for you wherever you are, so if you’re on-the-go or staying home, you’ll find something for you in the Library of Things!
