Understanding history in context can help us better understand the present. You can now explore two new tools that specifically focus on the experience of Hispanic Americans and African Americans as recorded by the news media.

Hispanic Life in America is an online archive of news media spanning from 1704 to present day, including over 700 Spanish-language or bilingual publications. You can use this online archive to better understand the experience and impact of Hispanic Americans throughout our country’s history.

Like Hispanic Life in America, you can use Black Life in America to explore African American history through news coverage that dates from 1704 to present day. You can also use Black Life in America to quickly find resources that explore critical points in African American history, such as the Civil War, the Jim Crow era, and the Civil Rights Movement.
