The library is partnering with the Addison Fire Protection District and the DuPage Health Coalition to offer programs on first aid and basic lifesaving skills. These sessions cover CPR, AED use, overdose response with NARCAN, tourniquet application, wound packing, and more.
We encourage everyone in the community to learn these vital skills so that, in an emergency, you can step in confidently and provide assistance until first responders arrive. Quick and calm action during an emergency can make a crucial difference.
Illinois residents are protected by the Good Samaritan law, which shields rescuers from legal liability when providing emergency care, as long as they act reasonably and do not accept compensation. This law, along with other essential information, is discussed during the programs.
Adults and children ages 12 and up are welcome to join us. For younger children, we offer a special Community Helpers Storytime, because it’s never too early to start learning about safety and helping others!
