Join us for National Novel Writing Month (also known as "NaNoWriMo"). All ages are invited to stop by the library starting Nov. 1 to get your NaNoWriMo starter kit, inspiration to kickstart your project (of any length or style), and chances to connect with other local writers.

On Tuesday, November 14, the Addison Public Library will be joining a network of 100 libraries called SWAN. We are very excited for this migration, and we can't wait for you to explore all of the benefits! Read more about what SWAN means for you and what's coming next.

Each year, libraries across the country recognize Banned Books Week to both celebrate each person’s freedom to choose what they want to read and share information about censorship. During Banned Books Week (Oct. 1-7), we’ll have activities to celebrate your Freedom to Read and highlight the diversity of our collections. Come find out more about why books are being challenged and how a librarian can help you find the book that’s right for you.

In the library’s current strategic plan, one of our strategic focuses is to make the library a place that leads, reflects, and supports our diverse community. When we discovered a gap in our services to the community, we made it a goal to offer Spanish-speaking adults programs to prepare for GED en español courses.

Need someone to review your writing for grammar, structural, or other issues? Our library has the perfect tool for writing help for students and beyond. Brainfuse offers expert online assistance with writing and offers live online one-on-one expert tutoring for many subjects, including writing.

Gather your family and friends for a fun summer gathering with our Library of Things! With our selection of outdoor lawn games, technology equipment, and more, you can create a fun, entertaining day for everyone!

Home to the coolest gadgets and awe-inspiring crafts, our Creative Studio is packed with a ton of potential for all patrons. From the wonders of 3D printing to the fun of designing T-shirts, our library’s makerspace has it all! However, of all the technology in the studio, our Sublimation Press for Mugs is by far my favorite.

While we’ve always owned horror books, we’ve added a new collection to our shelves: horror novels, which you can find in between the Crime and Romance collections on the second floor! As a big fan of horror novels, I’d like to get you started with some of the rising stars in horror fiction over the past 5+ years with these author recommendations.

The Creative Studio is often busy in the winter as crafters prepare for the winter holidays, so we are trying something new to make sure everyone has a chance to use our space: Open Labs! During Open Labs, you can drop in to the Creative Studio to get help from trained staff with your project.
