Starting Sat., Nov. 25, pick up a Shop Small neighborhood map from the library or from our participating businesses. Shoppers will earn a sticker on their map for each business they visit during the campaign (limit 1 sticker per business). For each sticker you collect on your map, you will be entered to win a prize!

Join us for National Novel Writing Month (also known as "NaNoWriMo"). All ages are invited to stop by the library starting Nov. 1 to get your NaNoWriMo starter kit, inspiration to kickstart your project (of any length or style), and chances to connect with other local writers.

Each year, libraries across the country recognize Banned Books Week to both celebrate each person’s freedom to choose what they want to read and share information about censorship. During Banned Books Week (Oct. 1-7), we’ll have activities to celebrate your Freedom to Read and highlight the diversity of our collections. Come find out more about why books are being challenged and how a librarian can help you find the book that’s right for you.

In the library’s current strategic plan, one of our strategic focuses is to make the library a place that leads, reflects, and supports our diverse community. When we discovered a gap in our services to the community, we made it a goal to offer Spanish-speaking adults programs to prepare for GED en español courses.

The Addison Public Library is open today, Friday, September 15, 2023, after a second threat of violence this week prompted an emergency evacuation. Both threats this week were determined to be unfounded by law enforcement, and all patrons, staff, and community members are safe.

The Addison Public Library was temporarily closed on September 12, 2023, due to a bomb threat received via our chat service around 2:00 p.m. Thank you to the extensive efforts and immediate response of the Addison Police Department and the DuPage County Bomb Squad, the library has since reopened and is safe for all to return.
